Carat weights

The term ‘carat’ (or ‘ct’) refers to the weight of a diamond, although it is often (incorrectly) used to describe the size of a diamond.

Diamonds can range in weight from a fraction of a carat to several carats. One carat (1ct) equals 0.20 grams and is divided into 100 points, so a half-carat (0.50 carat) diamond is also known as a 50 point diamond.

Even though carat weight is not a reflection of the diamond's size, you can use the chart below as a general guide for what size to expect.
